Burnley vs West Ham United Prediction (03-05-2021)
The home side finally found a performance from within after their 4-0 win over Wolves, while West Ham United still occupy a European place despite losing 1-0 to Chelsea.
Burnley finally showed some fight after their surprise 4-0 away win against Wolves lifted them above Brighton, Newcastle and Southampton and away from the relegation zone. That win should give them a huge boost as they now sit 9 points above relegation and they should be safe with only 5 games to go.
There is still a chance that things could go wrong so they will have to show up in the last remaining games and put in good performances. This one will be tough with West Ham going for a European place, but Burnley should take a lot of confidence from their win last weekend. A result here for the home side could set back the Hammers’ hopes of Europe while it would likely guarantee Burnley’s survival in the Premier League for another season.
They haven’t been good this season, but surviving in this league is all that matters for Burnley and they’re on the edge of doing that again. With the team they currently have, they can only ever play one way of football and it isn’t pretty, but they’re close to getting the job done.
It’s route one at best, and while results haven’t been going their way, their empathic win against Wolves showed what they are capable of. It now becomes an even more challenging game for West Ham after that result for Burnley.
West Ham United’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend will be hard to take for the team, but they can bounce right back with a good performance and result here. They’ve bounced back all season after poor results and there’s no doubt they can do it again here. Pressure will be on the team to perform as it’s coming to the end of the season and there’s a lot of important fixtures coming up for the club.
West Ham still occupy a European place as the club sit 5th, but there’s still a chance of Champions League football next season if results go their way around the league. This one isn’t a given as Burnley usually prove hard to beat, but the Hammers will be well up for it as they know what’s on the line.
Key players like Declan Rice and Michail Antonio have been a huge miss for West Ham and they especially were against Chelsea, but they do still have a lot of talented players in their side with great ability. Jesse Lingard’s form since arriving at the club in January has spurred the team on, and with only 5 games to go they’re right in the mix to play European football next season.
A few good results in their last remaining fixtures should see this club into Europe which is what they deserve after the season they’ve had. With Liverpool and Tottenham breathing down their necks in the league, this one has to be a win for West Ham.
