Chelsea vs Arsenal Prediction (12-05-2021)

Chelsea moved into 3rd with their huge win at Manchester City, while Arsenal’s season is all but done if they don’t pick up wins in their last remaining games.

It looked to be going badly for Chelsea in the early stages of the game against Manchester City as they went down 1-0. City were then awarded a penalty, but Sergio Aguero’s failed panenka attempt seemed to change the tide of the game.

It was a much different performance than the previous encounter between the sides, but Chelsea’s resilience shone through once again. To go to Etihad Stadium and turn the game around against a strong Manchester City side is remarkable, and Chelsea are showing what a great team they can be. Ever since Thomas Tuchel took charge, it’s been nothing but good news for Chelsea and they look like a completely different team since then.

With the FA Cup final and the Champions League final coming up, Chelsea are on course to finish in the top 4 in the league also. They moved above Leicester into 3rd, and it should be hard for Chelsea to fail from here which will guarantee Champions League football next season.

The team deserves a lot of praise for how they’ve performed since the new manager came in, and the appointment of Tuchel that was criticized a lot at the time has proven to be the correct decision. Arsenal shouldn’t pose a lot of problems for Chelsea as both clubs are in such opposite form, but it’s still a game where Arsenal have to win to put pressure on Tottenham and Everton above them as they fight for Europa League.

With the way Chelsea are playing at the minute and the confidence throughout the side, 3 points here are likely to head to the home side.

Mikel Arteta has identified that change is needed at the club in the Summer, and that shows that he’s being backed again. The manager should be backed as there’s no reason to sack him to bring in another manager who will do the same job. The players simply aren’t good enough, nor do they want it enough.

The body language of some players that play for Arsenal are players that are just happy to be here, but this should be a club that fights for titles and trophies, and it hasn’t been that for far too long now. Arteta at least has some sort of style he wants to play, but for whatever reason, it’s still not working for Arsenal.

They were poor against Villareal in the Europa League last Thursday as they headed out of the competition, and they’ll now have to win their last 3 games and hope that teams above slip up as they still look for a European place. The club has sat mid table for most of the season and it doesn’t seem to bother a lot of the players as it has been unacceptable all around.

The manager normally takes a lot of the blame, but players have to accept that they’ve underperformed for the manager and the team this season and a lot of changes to the personnel is needed in the off season.

In a must win game for Arsenal against Chelsea, it’s hard to see how they perform and they’ll likely be outclassed and outworked.
