Odds for Manchester City to win Champions League

Manchester City after beating Borussia Dortmund in the 8th round on a 4-2 aggregate are the favourites at odds of 5/4 (Bet365) to take the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League title. Pep Guardiola’s men dropped points in only one of their 10 games in their passage to the semi-finals when they drew 0-0 with Porto in a Group encounter.

They have racked up 21 goals from those ten outings and let in just four – something that underlines their dominance on the pitch as far as both attack and defense go. The Citizens are expected to overcome the formidable Paris St Germain in the semis and probably take out one of the winners of the Chelsea-Real Madrid clash in the finals.

Despite bookmakers favouring City to go all the way, one will have to keep their fingers crossed especially when the opponents are of the caliber of PSG or potentially a Real Madrid.

Twenty-year old Phil Foden, the scorer of goals in each of City’s wins of 2-1 and 1-2 will be a key figure if the club were to succeed in their coming encounters.

Odds for Paris St Germain to win Champions League

Paris St Germain are the second favourites with the Parisiennes not having bargained for a tougher opponent than the current Premier League leaders Manchester City. PSG were not as impressive as their forthcoming opponents in the run-up to the semi-finals, losing three games out of the ten, including the one in the second-leg of the just finished quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich.

The fact that they overcame the champions 3-2 is a big booster to their morale going ahead – although it must be said that Bayern were hugely handicapped by the absence of their star striker and world football’s premier scorer, Robert Lewandowski.

Lasty year’s finalists PSG are well aware of City’s rare entry into the Final Four of the UCL and will have the big occasion folks like the incredible young Kylian Mbappe and the phenomenal Neymar to create nervousness among a City side not accustomed to being at this stage of Europe’s premier tournament.

With arguably the most expensive and feared attack in contemporary world football and a solid defense to back it up, it’s hard to see PSG not being in the finals despite their odds of 10/3 (Bet365).

Odds for Real Madrid to win Champions League

Real Madrid are the third favourites to lift the 2020-21 Champions League at odds of 7/2 (Paddy Power). The 13-time champions brushed aside 2019 winners Liverpool on an aggregate of 3-1 to set up a semi-final duel with Chelsea.

Los Blancos begun their Champions League campaign very poorly with Zinedine Zidane’s outfit staring at an astonishing possibility of being eliminated in the Group stage itself after shocking twin defeats to a lowly Shakhtar Donetsk. But the La Liga giants showed character in coming back and winning both fixtures against Serie A leaders Inter Milan and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

Convincing victories over Italian club Atalanta and Liverpool in the Round of 16 and quarter finals have ensured that Real are nearly back to their best. With an attack that has some of the best in the business in the likes of Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Vinicius backed by the incomparable Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro in the midfield, one would expect them to go past Chelsea in the semis.

With veteran defender and winner of three Champions League titles, Sergio Ramos, hoping to recover in time for the semi-final clash, the past masters of the Champions League will expect themselves to be where they are supposed to be – at the top of the European football pyramid.

Odds for Chelsea to win Champions League

Chelsea at odds of 4/1 (Bet365) could be considered to the dark horses to win this season’s Champions League. The winners of 2012 had a comparatively easy quarter-final draw with Porto whom they brushed aside 2-1 on aggregate to proceed to the semi-finals.

But few could argue their magnificent run-up to this stage that included very impressive wins of 3-0 over La Liga leaders and Champions League runners-up of 2014 and 2016, Atletico Madrid and their away thrashing of a formidable Sevilla 0-4 in the Group stage. The Blues have conceded the least number of goals (just 3) from the 10 games in their run-up to this stage which is the best defensive performance by any team in the UCL this season and scored 19 goals to boot.

With just 2 defeats from their previous 18 outings across all competitions under new boss Thomas Tuchel, the West London side will be a very hard outfit to beat.
